Bread and coffee, made at home

Neretva builds the two machines a kitchen actually runs every day

A bread machine that bakes with two heating elements instead of one, and espresso machines that show you the pressure they are working at. Neretva is named after a river with an unusually clear green colour, and clarity is roughly the idea: no mystery numbers, no parts you cannot replace.

Two heating elements, not one

Most bread machines heat from below and leave the top of the loaf pale. Ours run an element above the pan as well and shift between them through the bake, which is why the crust setting actually changes the crust.

Why the loaf comes out different

What the bread machines do that the spec sheet undersells

Twenty programmes is the headline, but the useful part is what sits underneath. Ceramic lined pans instead of PTFE, so nothing flakes into the loaf. A 15 hour delay timer, so measuring at eleven at night gives you bread at seven. A 15 minute power interruption recovery, so a flickering supply does not cost you the batch. And on the two dispenser models, a hopper that adds fruit and nuts at the point in the knead where they stay whole.

Neretva bread makers start at a 2 lb loaf for a household of two or three and run up to 3.3 lb with an 800 W motor and two paddles for kitchens that bake for the week.

On every Neretva bread machine

  • Dual heating elements, above and below the pan
  • Three crust shades, light through dark
  • Nonstick ceramic pan, no PTFE coating
  • 15 hour delay timer and an hour of keep warm
  • 15 minute power interruption recovery
  • Paddle hook, measuring cup, spoons and glove in the box
  • Replacement pans and paddles kept in stock by model

Reading an espresso spec sheet

What the numbers on a coffee machine actually describe

Twenty bar sounds like twice as good as ten. It is not a quality score, it is a pump rating, and the coffee never sees it. Here is what each figure on our espresso machines means in the cup.

The figures on our espresso machines, and what they change
The numberWhat it measuresWhat it changes for you
15 or 20 barMaximum pump pressure with the outlet closedHeadroom, so the pump holds steady pressure as the puck softens
9 barWorking pressure at the coffeeThe actual target. Visible live on the machines with a gauge
198 FBrew water temperature, held by the boilerCooler tastes sour, hotter tastes burnt

The long version, including how to read a bad shot, is in our guide to espresso at home. The machines themselves are on the Neretva coffee range.

I have found this one makes a better loaf of bread. It has two heating elements so the bread is less dense than with the other machines. It is also takes less time for a loaf to bake. The bread pan has a smooth finish so the loaf slides out easily. It’s compact so it fits where my other machine was. I would recommend it.

If I could give this six stars I would. It really is set and forget, and it made me feel so much better about what I ate. Even after getting into sourdough, I still have this out so I can throw the ingredients in and come home to the smell of fresh baked bread.

Bread consistency is great. Quiet and does not over bake the bottom of bread like most. I do wish it would have come with or offered a bread book recipe guide for this machine. But all in all, one of the nicest bread machines Ive owned. The auto feed for seeds and nuts is great. very easy to use. Super easy to keep clean and has a very small footprint on your countertop.

Very nice bread maker. Attractive and works beautifully. Bread slides right out. Only suggestion is that the menu options could be a little less complicated.

Was not sure I would be happy but took a chance and bought this Neretva machine. Love the small footprint and it looks so high end on the coffee bar. So I read the instructions as well as a bunch of reviews and then gave it a go for a cappuccino. Success on the very first try and it was restaurant quality taste! I am thrilled with this little machine!

The espresso this machine makes is genuinely good, with excellent crema, but the rest of the experience is disappointing. The vibration is strong enough that I have to hold my cup steady every time I brew. The frother is a mess: it sprays water, overheats the machine, and prevents me from making another espresso until everything cools down. After a month of use, I’m giving it 3 stars.

I am finally able to use my espresso machine and get the proper infusion. I had a different grinder that didn't produce the correct grind quality and I was reluctant to buy another machine because I didn't want to end up with something else that didn't work for espresso.

Great grinder. My only gripe is the portafilter bracket needs to extend further down to accommodate the pf w/ dosing funnel. Without being able to include the dosing funnel, an 18g dose leaves grounds everywhere. An included dosing cup would be huge improvement.

Worked great. Beautiful color. The only thing that kept this from 5 stars is that it tends to move around on the higher speeds. Had to physically hold it down.

Bread, safely

Two things worth knowing before the first loaf

Home baking gives you control over what goes in, which is most of the reason people buy a bread machine in the first place. Two of those controls are worth spelling out, and both come from national health agencies rather than from us.

The full set of guides, with troubleshooting tables for loaves and shots, lives in the Neretva kitchen appliances journal.

A Neretva bread pan and kneading paddle

The pan outlives its coating, not the machine

We keep genuine pans, paddles, hooks and portafilters for every machine in the range, matched by model rather than by guesswork.

How this catalogue works

Prices, availability and what we promise about them

We publish our own catalogue and update the figures on a schedule. A model with no price is shown as currently unavailable rather than quietly hidden, and nothing here is priced from memory.

The details, including when the catalogue was last updated and what happens if a figure has moved since, are on our how we update page.

Straight answers

  • Every price on the site comes from our own catalogue update, not from a manual edit
  • Models with no current price stay in the catalogue and are marked unavailable
  • Parts pages name the machine bodies they fit
  • Reviews are quoted unedited, including the critical ones
  • Health claims cite national health agencies, and we read the source first
  • Payment, delivery and returns all happen at checkout, not on this site
